When I was born,
I couldn’t see,
My senses useless,
Out on the streets.
A man dumped me,
Near a mall,
I was forgotten,
So weak and small.
I was hungry,
In need of a drink,
Warm hands picked me,
A man who winked,
They took me to a vet,
And I was set.
Humans put me in a cage,
My only friend a toy,
Until someone adopted me,
One day someone took me,
To a home where I aged,
To bring joy,
To a young boy,
Who played and took care of me,
I did this to the end,
So unstressed I could rest,
Knowing I had done my best,
To bring joy,
To a young boy.
